Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format and follows the JKTSS template.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts are to be submitted online through Open Journal Systems (OJS), a fully web-based submission, peer review, and tracking system. If you are submitting via the online system for the first time, you will first be required to register. From the account you create, you will be able to monitor your submission and make subsequent submissions. Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published and is not being considered for publication in another journal.

1. General
A manuscript submitted to JKTSS must be original work that has not been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. The journal welcomes submissions written in either English or Bahasa Melayu. Manuscripts, including references, should be typed with 1.0 spacing on A4 size paper using a font size of 12 pt and should not be more than ten (10) pages in length, inclusive of tables, figures, and illustrations. The editorial board reserves the right to reject any manuscripts that are unsuitable for the journal for any reason. Authors whose native language is not English are strongly advised to have their manuscripts proofread by an English-speaking colleague or professional before submission.

2. Title
Manuscripts should be headed by a concise title using a font size of 14 pt. Please include the full name(s) of the author(s) using a font size of 12 pt and the email address. In the case of more than one author, please indicate the primary author to whom all correspondence concerning the paper should be directed.

3. Abstract
All manuscripts should be accompanied by an abstract of between 100 and 200 words. The abstract should not only indicate the subject and scope of the paper but also summarise the author’s conclusion along with not more than five (5) keywords separated by hyphens that could be useful for information-retrieval purposes. For those submitted manuscripts in Malay, please provide an English abstract along with your Malay abstract.

4. Style
As far as possible, manuscripts should consist of the following sections: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion.

5. Acknowledgement
All acknowledgements, if any, should not be more than 100 words and should be included at the end of the manuscript before the list of references.

6. References
References should appear in a separate references section at the end of the manuscript. All references should follow the APA referencing style. For example, Li, S., & Seale, C. (2007). Learning to do qualitative data analysis: An observational study of doctoral work. Qualitative Health Research, 17(10): 1442–1452.
