Abstract

Interpersonal skill is among the salient skills needed in the working environment. Due to these necessities, JPKK ensures to develop a syllabus along with CLO, based on industries requirement. JPKK always opens their space and opportunities for industry involvement in the learning and teaching process. Unfortunately, covid-19 hit us badly, a lot of skill matters cannot be implemented effectively, it causes lack of effective communications, lead to low self-esteem and limited skills among students. Accordingly, a personality development seminar was held with industry involvement, n=73 participation from Secretarial Science Diploma students. The objective of the study is to evaluate the level of interpersonal skills students Diploma in Secretarial Science Polytechnic Port Dickson on a personality development program to meet the needs of the industry during a pandemic Covid-19 and measuring the level of effectiveness of personality development programs among Port Dickson Polytechnic’s Diploma in secretarial science students. The questionnaire consisted of 2 constructs with 10 question items were distributed to the respondents, 2 item constructs with ten questions distributed. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively used mean scores, standard deviations, and one-way ANOVA. The study found the average height of students' interpersonal skills (mean = 3.7), as well as the effectiveness of the personality development program (mean = 3.6). However, there were no significant differences in perceptions about the effectiveness of personality development programs between semesters. These results are based on one-way ANOVA. It indicates the seminars with industry involvement conducted had a positive impact on the respondents. Respondents felt that the information provided added to existing interpersonal skills, that they may not be aware of due to changes in learning styles. It became one attribute of an added value at a time when the new norm becomes a way of life.
